Hawaii Travels- When A Therapist Goes on Retreat
I get a lot of people who are thinking about starting therapy and end up reaching out to me once they are on vacation.
It's made me realize just how many people end up asking themselves some interesting questions once work and other distractions are out of the way. It can be a self reflective pause to find and rediscover other parts of ourselves.
Here are some questions that I myself as well as other therapist friends have asked while traveling in Hawaii during a retreat.
Journal Prompts:
I wonder if everyone at work is okay and if everyone is being supported while Im out?
How can I NOT be busy and preoccupied by others, allowing me to actually enjoy myself while being away on a trip and stepping out of the role that I play for others?
How can I practice the things that I preach or align more with my values and beliefs?
What podcasts and books can I catch up on?
I just noticed stressors come up in my dynamics with others. What's the best course of action for me right now? How can I make this better for myself and for my future?
What are some things that I enjoy doing and how can I make time for it?
Why is it hard to take time off? Now that I'm off, what am I learning or noticing about myself?
What interests me these days?
What's needed in order for me to really feel relaxed and rejuvinated?
How can I bring this feeling of calm and sense of ease back with me into my day to day life?
